Michael Mansvelt, author of Everyday Opulence and a landscape designer for nearly three decades, blends plantsmanship with inspired design. His Taranaki property, once a simple section with empty greenhouses, is now a thriving green sanctuary, reflects his belief in the power of nature and thoughtful planting.
Mansvelt’s planting has become iconic within his hometown of New Plymouth where once you know how he works, you see his projects everywhere from residential gardens, generously lush planters distinguishing local businesses and hypnotic installations in public spaces. The nursery is the source of much of the treasures that – via Mansvelt’s eponymous design studio – find their way out into gardens both regionally and throughout the country.
